Tom Brady Visits Alma Mater

The maize and blue family got a special visit yesterday morning. The 2-time Super Bowl MVP, Tom Brady, showed his true colors when he delivered the Michigan Wolverines a few inspirations. Brady and the Patriots were in town for their NFL pre-season game against the Detroit Lions, so why not drive a couple miles off track and talk to your old team?
Before being drafted to the New England Patriots in 2000, Brady played quarterback for the Wolverines. Brady Hoke, Michigan’s head coach, introduced his team to his good friend. Brady delivered a 7 minute speech then followed by a 1-on-1 with some of the players.
“Every man in this room is counting on you,” Brady told the players. “And every player that’s ever worn this helmet is counting on you, because you guys are the ones that are lucky enough to play for Michigan.”
That night at the pre-season game against the Lions, Brady and the Patriots get blown out 40-9. Those re-assuring words to the Wolverines may be needed on his own team.
“I love Michigan, and I love the history of the school, and I love what the history and the tradition of this school is all about,” Brady said. “When I came here almost 19 years ago, it was just important for me to see how many important and special players would come back to this school and program and talk to the younger players. I’m very fortunate to be able to have the opportunity to do that.”
